I'm not afraid to say it: I am freakishly out of alignment with myself... and that's completely okay. It's REALLY hard to get in your own flow and even harder to keep at it. Actually, I'm just now beginning to fathom and experience what being in the flow really means and how precarious this balance is. You have to monitor your thoughts constantly. You have to check in with yourself multiple times a day, check in with your body check in with your heart check in with your head and make damn sure everything is working together because the moment you lose your focus is when things go south. And bam you're back where you started, stuck in a loop of negativity and you feel as though your life is slipping out of your hands. But that's only your perception of it! Your energy isn't going anywhere. Your creative juices are flowing, you just don't have access to them because of your own obsessive fearful thinking. And again, that is completely okay as long as you're able to recognize what's happening. Awareness is power. It's okay to have the negative thoughts IF you know you are thinking them. Awareness ensures there is enough space between you and your thoughts, to allow Source to flow through and manifest your positive intentions.
I was asked an excellent question earlier this week. Oftentimes when I recommend that someone prays, they go "But I don't know how to?" with a hint of embarrassment in their tone. There is a lot of fears and misunderstandings around it because we tend to associate prayer with religion but really, it doesn't have to be a religious act. Prayer is a tool that you can use regardless of your belief system.
Whether you pray to Jesus, Allah, Yahveh, Thor, Shakti, Hecate, Quetzalcoatl or Satan really doesn't matter. Your beliefs are the fruit of your own experience and they are not to be judged, ever.
Prayer is an act of surrender, not weakness. You are opening your heart, stating that you need help and that you are ready to receive it.
So how does one pray? It's entirely up to you but I can give you a few tips to figure it out. First, who/what are you praying to? Who/what do you feel the most comfortable addressing at this time? I don't always pray to the same entity. Sometimes I'll pray to my guardian angel, sometimes to Isis, sometimes to Jesus, sometimes to myself!
Then, what do you need help with? Make a clear statement. Be thorough and don't be afraid of talking too much. You will get emotional. That's very good. If you start crying it means you are praying with all your heart, which is the home of the soul and guarantees that your prayer will be heard. In my experience, a prayer with tears holds a lot of power!
Don't worry about following a script. A prayer doesn't have to be this beautiful poem; it needs to flow and feel natural and easy. Do what feels right for you, always. You will know when you are done. You should feel a sense of relief from opening your heart and surrendering your will to the powers that be. You will feel the warm embrace of the universe and you will know you were heard. If you have any doubts, ask to receive a sign that your prayer was heard.
You can pray in your head or you can say it out loud, it works the same. It's all about the strength and authenticity of your intention. Do not be afraid to be vulnerable. A prayer is a statement and a release. Be as honest as possible. It's all in the heart, babes.
Past lives should never serve as justification for shitty behavior : "Oh i'm a jerk because this happened in my past life." Dude, like… that's not even close to how it works. You're a jerk because you are the product of your upbringing and the sum of all the traumatic events you have been subjected to since your conception.
HOWEVER our past lives do influence our current lives to some extent. Think of it like a network of trees. The soil is your soul. The roots grow within the soil, connecting with each other underground. All trees are attached together but you can't tell by looking at them: they all seem to be their own individual tree. Each tree is one life. They are separate but connected. They belong with each other, each one giving birth to the next; each one participating to the growth of the others.
We hold within our souls the memory of all our incarnations. It's a well of wisdom and experience we continuously draw from, without knowing. Reincarnation is a game of connect-the-dots. We do not get better, we get fuller by connecting more and more dots as we go and remember our essence.
Our past lives tell the story of our growth and there is no going backwards. We cannot get worse, either. Just because you were a saint in one life and Hitler in the next doesn't mean you fucked up. Every incarnation is a choice on behalf of your soul. We choose the family we incarnate into. Yes, we choose our parents! So much for blaming your dad for everything, huh? (I know, I've done it). Our soul wants to experience everything on the spectrum of feeling because it participates to its growth and it learns the most by way of contrasting experiences. That's why we go through so damn much. But remember, life will never give you something you can't handle.
"Love yourself" they say, and they tell us to affirm it everyday : "I love myself, I love myself, I love myself" as if it were going to magically transform our lives. It doesn't work!!! You know why? Because the Universe doesn't respond to lies. It responds to our main vibration. We can say it all we want, if we don't feel it in our heart it's just going to create more pain by making us ashamed of not being able to feel the love we so badly want to feel for ourselves.
Here's my precious advice if you struggle with self-love : a loud, desperate and heartfelt I HATE MYSELF is ten times more powerful than a half-assed "I love myself." Because it's AUTHENTIC. It's the truth of who you are in all your self-deprecating glory. And the Universe loves that shit.
Try it, say it out loud. Does it make you laugh? Are you crying? Doesn't it sound crazy? Saying it breaks your own destructive spell! I'm dead serious about this and I wish everyone would see this post especially the self-love advocates out there who put sparkles and unicorns on everything. I love sparkles and I love unicorns but not on my shitty feelings, thank you!

I'm upset because I had very important energy work done two days ago and I worry that they've corrupted it. They were probably drawn to that; they saw me emerging from the darkness of my unconscious and into the light of conscious knowing. They saw me heal and tried to pull me back. Yesterday I was telling a lightworker friend about my entity attacks. My friend is a very powerful beacon of light who triggers spontaneous healing in people. The darkness does not want us to heal because if we heal we can do our work of light and free the masses from their grip.
My unconscious wounds have made me a target of Team Dark. The truth is, no matter how enlightened we think we are, we hold a shitload of darkness within us. It's never all light or all dark, it's both : we embody this polarity within ourselves! So... there is no Team Dark and there is no Team Light. These are just two ends on the same spectrum. We, humans, are little cups of coffee with more or less cream in it. How much cream do you want in yours?
Feel like you've just been smacked in the face by a piece of your past? Yep, you're not alone. In fact, we are all dealing with a good case of the Reopening Wound right now. That's how I call it. I thought I should talk to you about this because I'm in the middle of it myself and it does NOT feel good. But it can!
Our emotional scars are just like regular scars on our skin. We wear them on our soul, we identify with them, we are constantly reminded of their origin - and it hurts.
Lately you are feeling especially triggered, but... The past is not coming back to hurt you. It's coming back to heal you more. You may have thought you were okay, you thought you forgave whoever wronged you, perhaps it was yourself and you forgave yourself. You may have said a good number of times "I'm over it." But were you, really? Are we ever completely over things? I want to tell you to own your past, to reclaim it, but because I've been trying desperately to own mine, to take responsibility, to stop blaming others, I know how fucking hard it is. You can't just say it and it's done. It's not true. It takes courage, commitment, more forgiveness.
In the meantime you have to be okay with the past returning from time to time. It will hurt, but only momentarily. Know that it's coming to make peace with you. It's your unconscious saying "hey, you haven't dealt with this aspect of your pain quite yet. I think you're ready to face it now." And so another level of healing takes place within you. The wound closes again, the skin thickens, the scar grows an extra layer. By recognizing the healing process occurring within you, by acknowledging the signs, you allow peace. You allow strength. You allow the lessons to be learned. You protect yourself from further harm or grief or shame. You know better.
Emotion = Feeling + Thought
I should probably begin by stating the difference between an emotion and a feeling. These two terms are often used interchangeably even though they are two very different concepts. We are always in a state of feeling because our bodies are constantly perceiving sensations. Being in a body is feeling; whether the feeling is made aware is up to us.
Emotion is born in the brain and is only the interpretation of a feeling in the body. It's the byproduct of a thought process attached to a sensation; a feeling observed through the lens of personal experience: an emotion is always subjective.
Your brain is like a crazy archivist playing a game of memory. It's a logical machine : it needs to understand, and it understands by association. The thought that our brain will associate with a feeling depends on our individual programming, which is defined by a vast range of experiences that live forever in our heads. When the brain receives a group of sensations, it's going to dig into our memory to make sense of them and decide how to react : that's the fabric of thoughts, which generates emotions. Your brain is making connections and decisions based on what it already knows. Sometimes unfortunately it will recognize elements of a traumatic event and bring along the corresponding emotions or beliefs, based solely on its assessment of our present situation - that's when it gets ugly. I'll give you an example with my favorite insect.
Pretend you are a small baby. You're at home with your dad, everything is fine. The telephone rings and your dad runs out of the room to answer it, leaving you in your chair. You look around : you are all alone. Your breathing speeds up. You wonder if your dad is going to come back. Suddenly a big bumblebee flies into the kitchen at the moment you were having this scary thought. Bam, your brain records the whole experience : the fear, the loneliness, the bumblebee. From this moment on, you will have an aversion for the cute, fluffy-butted insect without knowing why. Each bumblebee on your path will have you submerged with anxiety and completely helpless. But you, will have no idea what suddenly caused you so much pain.
You do not remember every painful experience but your brain does, and it puts elements of your current and past experiences together to help you have an appropriate response. But it doesn't make a difference between the present moment and something that happened twenty-five years ago. An innocent and apparently insignificant detail is enough to bring you back to the initial trauma. What is just a harmless, logical process for your brain can destroy you on the inside in a second.
No such thing as overreacting
That's why two people will have different reactions to a same event. That's why we sometimes "overreact" (I don't like to use this term but I'll do it here for the sake of understanding). When you think someone is overreacting to a situation, you are most likely witnessing this person being hit by trauma all over again. Even though the situation is completely unthreatening on the surface, in that person's brain it's chaos and pain. The worst part is that we are largely unaware of these mechanisms.
There is never an appropriate emotional response to something. There are no two people having the same experience. What might feel innocent and painless to us will feel unbelievably painful and be a massive trigger to another. It's important to remember that we never know what's going on in someone else's head. We don't know what they've been through, no matter how close we are and how well we think we know them. The truth is we can never fully understand anyone.
Every emotion is a choice
Because an emotion is merely a thought or a belief attached to a feeling, it may not represent how we truly feel about something, or someone. We use the word "love" a lot: "I love chocolate." "I love these shoes!" "I love my boyfriend." Okay, but how does it really feel to love them? Do you feel the same way about your boyfriend as you do a pair of shoes? Didn't think so --although if you do, you might want to get yourself a new boyfriend.
To truly feel, you must remove the emotion or belief that your brain has attached to a feeling. In order to do that, you put yourself in a state of awareness. Let's take anxiety as an example because so many of us struggle with it. How does it feel? You may be tempted to describe an emotion -what you believe it feels like- but I want you to focus on the sensations in your body : that is feeling. Do you feel your stomach tensing up, your chest caving in? How's your back? Did you just stop breathing for a second? Is your heart beating faster, your hands numb? Focus solely on your body and be present with each sensation without attaching any thoughts to them.
The more you sink into your body, the more it relaxes. Presence with your bodily sensations is the key to -not avoid- but confront your negative emotions head-on. You are telling your brain "I am safe in the present moment. I do not need you to protect me." You have the power to reprogram your brain so that it will stop bringing you back to that initial painful experience. When you practice feeling in your body, you will soon begin to notice that some painful emotions occur less often. Perhaps no longer at all.
There is no avoiding pain, but you can tame it. A feeling is no more than a wave passing through you, animating every inch of your body (or bodies, but that's another issue that we will discuss later on). Make the conscious choice to feel before you think, and to not believe the stories you've made up in your head.
